    Hi,

    I saw an old thread with this issue, but no resolution. We are experiencing this issue now with some regularity- receiving emails with this message: “SS_WC_MailChimp_Handler::maybe_subscribe(): WooCommerce MailChimp subscription failed: Your merge fields were invalid. (ss-wc-mc-api-request-error)”

    I got the error the first time a few weeks ago, so I double-checked our merge fields on our pop-up and embedded form against our contact list. I found one error and fixed and all was fine. Today, I had five emails come in consecutively with the error. I’ve triple-checked our merge fields, run tests with my own personal emails, and confirmed that our API key is active. The plugins and WordPress are up to date. Please advise.

    WordPress 5.8
    WooCommerce 5.5.2
    WP WooCommerce Mailchimp 2.4.4

    Thank you!

    Hi there @toxoplasmaarts,

    We just published a small update (v2.4.5) to hopefully address this.

    Please let us know if you still experience any issues and feel free to open a ticket at our help center: https://support.saintsystems.com/hc/

    @toxoplasmaarts,

    We released another small update v2.4.6 that adds additional error details to the logs in the event of this error. This should provide more detail regarding which merge field is having an issue.

    The most common error is an error with the ADDRESS merge field. Even if it is not marked required, if there is an error with the ADDRESS merge field, you will get back a “Please enter a complete address” error.

    This means that the merge field “ADDRESS” is missing or incomplete. When there is an incomplete or invalid address on a subscriber, Mailchimp will not let you or any third-party app (i.e. our plugin) update any merge field until the invalid field has been fixed. Unfortunately, Mailchimp does allow some connected e-commerce platforms to sync subscribers even though they have invalid addresses.

    We have published another small update v2.4.7 to tell the Mailchimp API to skip merge field validation.

    Please update and let us know if you encounter the error again.

    Hi there! Thank you so much for the information. Actually, we got another error email today. Same message: SS_WC_MailChimp_Handler::maybe_subscribe(): WooCommerce MailChimp subscription failed: Your merge fields were invalid. (ss-wc-mc-api-request-error)

    We published another small update v2.4.8.

    Please update to the latest version and if it happens again, please contact us at https://support.saintsystems.com/hc/ to open a ticket so we can better troubleshoot the issue.
