Subscription is missing crucial features

There is no email validation and feedback to the user for invalid email address on the subscription form.

There is no subscription confirmation email for new signups meaning this can be abused. Anyone can enter anyone’s email address. A bot could enter thousands of addresses that would then receive emails at a cost to the mailgun sender.
