We’re using the default WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin found here:

    https://woo.com/products/woocommerce-subscriptions/

However as you can see in the screenshot, when someone orders a subscription product it sets each subsequent renewal as the same order number. This creates an issue for our customer service reps when they’re trying to figure out which (of six) order to look into if there’s a billing issue. It also presents issues with our QuickBooks integration as it doesn’t like us syncing multiple of the same order numbers.

Is there something in the settings I’m missing or something in the documentation I’ve overlooked that will allow subscriptions to have unique order numbers? I’ve looked through the docs for a few hours now but it’s possible I’ve overlooked something as simple as a checkbox in the plugin settings. This has been an issue since I set up this plugin about a year ago, just never thought too much about it until now.

    We’re running the following:
    WooCommerce 8.4.0
    WordPress 6.4.3
Sequential Order Numbers for WooCommerce?by WebToffee – 1.5.7
    WooCommerce Subscriptions?by WooCommerce – 4.7.0

    Hi ljwhite9,

    Thanks for reaching out.

We’ve noticed that you’re using an older version of the Sequential Order Number for WooCommerce. The issue has been addressed in our latest update (v1.6.0). We suggest updating the plugin and verifying the changes.

Thank you, I went ahead and updated to v1.6.0.

Should that also fix past subscription numbers or will it only adjust them moving forward from the date of updating the plugin to the most recent version?

    Hi?ljwhite9,

If you enable the ‘Apply for all orders’ option in the plugin settings, any changes made will be applied to all existing orders. However, if the option is already enabled, only new orders will follow the updated sequence and the changes will not affect the existing ones.

I just ran some tests on a staging site and did a brand new subscription with a brand new product and the first and second orders still have the same order numbers. I then selected the ‘Apply for all orders’ option and it made it so the the subscription order numbers weren’t all the same, BUT it also re-ordered all of my other order numbers (meaning it’ll mess up all of my quickbooks, CRM, RMA, etc. order syncing). Maybe I misunderstood but I thought leaving the ‘Apply for all orders’ unchecked would leave all old subscriptions unchanged but allow new ones to increment?

    Hi ljwhite9,

We attempted to replicate the issue on our end. The order numbers were generated sequentially, and there were no instances of the same order number being generated. Ensure you are using the latest plugin version 1.6.2.

Additionally, as informed, on enabling ‘Apply for all orders’ option in the plugin settings, any changes made will be applied to all existing orders.?Leave it unchecked to apply number format only for new orders. Also, set the next order number in the start number field for sequence to continue.

@webtoffeesupport I have the same issue. The first payment order generated by Woocommerce Subscriptions has the correct sequential order number, but the recurring order does not. The recurring order appears as a “related order” on the order details page. Version 1.6.5.

    Hi @trothill,

Our plugin is designed to generate sequential order numbers for your WooCommerce orders?(WooCommerce > Orders)?by replacing the default WooCommerce order number and our plugin doesn’t offer any options to generate sequence numbers for subscription orders. If the orders you are referring to are subscription orders, our plugin will not include them.
