Hi Tobias. I hope you’re doing well.

On the subject page, I have a table that appears to be showing an extra, empty column to the right side. I also had at one time the top row fixed so it wouldn’t scroll. I think I am using the free version of TablePress, and I also have installed the TablePress Extension: DataTables FixedHeader. But the first row scrolls along with the table. Do I need to go Pro? Is that extension now retired? I saw where the Responsive Tables extension has also been disabled, but I also need that functionality for this site.

What do you recommend? Thanks, as always.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi!

Thanks for your post and sorry for the trouble!

I don’t seen an extra empty column on the right side of your table here. It just happens that the browser makes the width of the “Notes/Video” column rather wide, as the cells in that column have some wider text (starting around row 154 of the table). You could try reducing the width of that column with CSS code, e.g. via https://tablepress.org/faq/column-widths/

Regarding the Fixed Header feature: You are indeed using the free version of TablePress on this website. That mentioned “TablePress Extension: DataTables FixedHeader” plugin is indeed retired and it is possible that it will stop working in the future. So, upgrading to TablePress Pro is something that you should consider (you could then even upgrade your existing license for the other site to a discounted license package).

Right now, the plugin should however still be working. From what I can, the feature is currently not activated for this table. That can have two reasons: Please check if the Extension is still activated as a plugin. Then, please also check if the Shortcode that you added to this page to embed the table has the datatables_fixedheader=top parameter in it. (This would not be needed with TablePress Pro, by the way, which allows configuring these features directly on the table’s “Edit” screen instead of having to use those error-prone Shortcode parameters.)

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
