    Hello,
we tried to switch from the old PayPal plugin to this one. Everything worked in our tests (one-off orders, new subscriptions, refunds, general appearance), except subscription renewals (we’ve got vaulting enabled). We had to switch back to the old plugin.

We’re not running the latest versions of WooCommerce and WooCommerce Subscriptions yet (we’re currently at WC 5.5.x and WCS 3.1.x, but do plan to update soon). Do we need to update WooCommerce Subscriptions to make it work properly with renewals or is there some other known problem?

The renewal simply didn’t kick in (we forced a renewal after an hour for a test), without any errors in the server logs. Do you have any other testing suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Hi @ziga-sancin,

Were you using PayPal Standard or PayPal Checkout before?
The best thing you could do to ensure there is no problem on the site itself is to connect a new sandbox merchant account and then buy a subscription product with a new sandbox buyer account.
If this works, then the problem is more likely to be related to your PayPal (merchant) account.

For example, PayPal Payments requires Reference Transactions to be enabled on your PayPal account to process automatic PayPal renewal payments. This was also required for the PayPal Checkout plugin, but not necessarily for PayPal Standard. Without Reference Transactions, only credit card subscriptions could be automatically renewed but not PayPal payments.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas
