subscription renewals

can you please let me know how does a member renew their paid for subscription after it expires?, I cannot find this info anywhere?

My customer says their subscription expired and they have no idea how to renew it ? looking at their current payment options they are using bank transfer for payment s , can you tell me why they was not charged and why they were not informed?
