    Hello,

It appears that the 2 subscription widgets on the blog has stopped working.

When I try to subscribe, and insert an email address, nothing happens and the URL shows /# at the end. No welcome email appears.

I cannot find any setting for subscription or the email that is sent to the subscribers: which name they see, email, which page appears after subscription. There is only the text in the widget – which does not appear.

    Please your assistance.

    Thank you,

    Vera

  • I’m having the same issue. The homepage loads but if you click on an article, it gives you an error page.

There has been a critical error on this website.
    Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.

    And the error_log says:

[07-Dec-2023 14:54:01 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Class ‘Automattic\Jetpack\Extensions\Premium_Content\Subscription_Service\Token_Subscription_Service’ not found in …/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/subscriptions/subscribe-modal/class-jetpack-subscribe-modal.php:193

The error_log also shows a stack trace:

    Stack trace: 0 …wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/subscriptions/subscribe-modal/class-jetpack-subscribe-modal.php(62): Jetpack_Subscribe_Modal->should_user_see_modal()

    5 /home3/nonames2/public_html/cl in …/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/subscriptions/subscribe-modal/class-jetpack-subscribe-modal.php on line 193

I’ve truncated the full path as it shows the server’s root path. I need a functioning website and now it doesn’t work after updating JetPack to 12.9. Also, this error message repeats over and over again. Nearly 4,000 lines.

Hey, thanks for not responding (as I see with other posts). The issues was fixed when I turned off:

Enable Subscribe Modal in the Settings > Discussion

I never have seen this as it’s at the very bottom of the screen nor did I turn it on. Stop adding features and turning them on unless I want to do it. Your presumptuousness broke my entire site.

I’m sorry, but this is NOT the same issue.

I do not have errors, and I don’t even have the option you are talking about (at all). It would be nice if people would actually read the issues before they attached their own.

I am asking for assistance on my issue, please.

    Thank you,

    Vera

Did you check the errors_log in the root directory of your WordPress installation? That would be a good place to see if there is a conflict. I had this issue before and I deleted the widget and did it from scratch. Then it started working again. I saw subscription in your post and skimmed over so my bad.

I have updated the plugin and there is a change. It no longer sends to the URL I said (himepage with /# at the end). Instead, it sends to URL
    https://olddesignshop.com/?subscribe=pending#subscribe-blog-blog_subscription-3
or 5 at the end, depending on which widget I chose to try – in the sidebar or the footer.

But there is no subscription, no email is sent, no subscriber added.

    Please, your assistance. Thank you.

    Hey @beitsiach,

Let’s get back to your original issue:

It appears that the 2 subscription widgets on the blog has stopped working.

When I try to subscribe, and insert an email address, nothing happens and the URL shows /# at the end. No welcome email appears.

I cannot find any setting for subscription or the email that is sent to the subscribers: which name they see, email, which page appears after subscription. There is only the text in the widget – which does not appear.

I just tested both subscription widgets – the one in the sidebar, and the one in the footer and both successfully returned the success message and the confirmation email. I am also seeing on my end several pending subscriptions from users.

Could you try the subscription process from a different browser than what you use normally? If you are unsuccessful in a different browser, I’d like to run some more tests with you on your site to try to figure out what’s happening.?

If you’re unsuccessful, could you contact us via this contact form and mention this thread?

    Hi Swish,

Thank you for getting back to me.

So, I went to a different browser, got the same results.

Then, because it worked for you, it occurred to me that this might be because I am logged in. So I logged out and even tried again in Incognito window.

This time I got the confirmation on the screen and an email asking to confirm. But then comes a bit of a saga. I think some things are not working as they should, so I will give the chain of events as detailed as possible. I uploaded screenshots on the site and will place links.

    1. I clicked the Confirm the Email button in the mail and it took me to the WordPress.com site account, I was logged in. As I rarely go there, it took me a while to find how to log out.
    2. I clicked again the Confirm the Email button in the mail and it took me to this page: https://wordpress.com/log-in/link/use. There was this notice: https://olddesignshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-22-115932.png
    3. Clicked on the Try again button, got this notice on the same page: https://olddesignshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-22-120123.png
    4. Went back to the site and tried to subscribe again, got this: https://olddesignshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-22-120350.png
    5. Clicked on the Subscription manager link, entered the email address and it showed me: https://olddesignshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-22-120535.png
    6. Went back to refresh emails in Outlook. Got 2 new emails.
    7. Went to the Subscribers on the website, Jetplack plugin. The list confirmed that I have subscribed about 20 minutes before. ONce again conrifming that the whole go here click there would be a waste of time for a subscriber.
    8. Another thing: clicked on the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy links in the first email and got to some generic pages, not our pages on the blog. How do I change that to OUR pages?

    Thank you,

    Vera

Hi Vera, thank you for sharing the detailed process you followed and relevant screenshots. Could you test the subscription process again using a different email address in an incognito window? If you can replicate the issue, please get in touch with us?via this contact form?and mention this thread.

Another thing: clicked on the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy links in the first email and got to some generic pages, not our pages on the blog. How do I change that to OUR pages?

Since the subscription emails are sent from WordPress.com platform, the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service links are linking to the respective pages on our site. These links can’t be modified.

    Hi there, @beitsiach,

Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!

    (@beitsiach)

I am so sorry, I got tied up in work and then completely forgot to get back to you.

    Did what you asked today.

    1. Subscribed in incognito window with a diffrent address.
    2. Clicked the Confirm the Email button in the mail and it took me to the WordPress.com site account, Manage subscribed?sites screen.
    3. Got a welcom email confirming subscription.

So this time it worked fine.

However, I would have expected to be sent to a page acknowledging subscription, stating that an email was sent, – not to the WordPress.com account. Perhaps with a link to the Manage subscribed?sites screen.

Please let me know that you have finished with this issue, and I will take down the pictues.

    Thank you.

Hi @beitsiach, if it’s now working fine for you, then it sounds that we’re all set, and you can remove the pictures.

Thanks a lot for this suggestion! We have relayed it to our product team, if you’re interested, you can follow the request progress in this GitHub issue.
