Subscription widget shortcodes not appearing

I’ve created a site to be used for status updates for a game server I host for a group of friends. The intent is to automatically send them updates by email using the Subscriptions feature of Jetpack (something I use faithfully with my other websites running WP). However, when I added the widget to my sidebar, nothing appears. Same occurs when adding the Subscriptions shortcode to a post.
I am currently using the OnePage theme, and the Askimet and Postman SMTP plugins on a fresh install. Issue persists while using the Twenty Sixteen theme and disabling the two other plugins. Other Jetpack widgets work just fine.
