After moving to this plugin from Payment Plugins for Stripe WooCommerce our existing subcriptions are not renewing. They are all going onto ‘on hold’ status when a existing subcription is due for renewal. No idea what is going on.

    Hi @e4deal,

Thanks for reaching out! To better understand what’s happening with the subscription renewals, could you provide the following details?

    • A screenshot of an affected subscription’s order notes.
    • Any relevant log entries from WooCommerce > Status > Logs related to Stripe or subscription renewals. You can copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.
    • Whether customers are being asked to update their payment details.

This will help us pinpoint the issue and find the best solution. Looking forward to your update!

Upon further investigation we have determined that the customer payment method was dissapearing when using your plugin putting existing subscriptions into ‘manual renewal’ mode. We have resolved this issue by re-installing the Payment Plugins for Stripe WooCommerce?plugin but de-activating it which restored all the existing subscriptions payment methods. Logs won’t help you. We noticed that when we activate the Payment Plugins for Stripe WooCommerce plugin a few more options appear under the payment methods for existing subscriptions like ‘Credit / debit cards’ as well as ‘Credit / debit card’ (notice the slight difference in these 2 options) whereas when we de-activate the Payment Plugins for Stripe WooCommerce plugin only the ‘Credit / debit card’ payment method remains. When we completely remove the Payment Plugins for Stripe WooCommerce plugin all payment methods for the existing subs dissapear and go onto ‘manual renewal’. Maybe that could help you but you should run your own testing. We shouldn’t have to have another payment plugin running just to get existing subs to work!

    Hi @e4deal,

I understand your suggestion about testing on our end, but we’ll need more details from you to know exactly what to test. Thanks for providing the detailed explanation.

However, the links you shared aren’t accessible as they lead to your site’s admin area, which requires a login. You can share screenshots with us using a public image sharing platform like https://imgbb.com.

From your explanation, there are still some unclear points. You mentioned that you resolved the issue by reinstalling the Stripe payment plugin, but then also deactivated it? That part is a bit confusing.

It would be helpful if you could provide a more detailed explanation along with links to screenshots so we can better understand what you’re referring to and assist you effectively.

Thank you for reporting your findings, @e4deal!

It’s indeed necessary to keep the older Stripe payment gateway enabled for now while you have customers who created their subscription with that plugin. For additional context, this is documented in the WooCommerce Subscriptions FAQs here.

As mentioned in the FAQ answer, customers can also register their payment method now that you’ve enabled the new gateway. The newly saved payment method can be used for future renewals.

@cshultz88 Thanks for confirming, did not see this is the documents but we figured it out anyway. One thing to note apparently when moving from this plugin to Payment Plugins for Stripe WooCommerce it moves all the subscriptions seemlessly. You can read about it at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/migration-from-official-stripe-plugin/. Maybe this functionality can be added to this plugin also?

    Hi @e4deal,

You’re right; adding seamless subscription migration would be a great feature to have. At this time, our plugin doesn’t support this functionality, but I recommend submitting it as a feature request. You can do that here: Feature Requests.

    Thank you.
