I looked at the other options available and there is permanent, finite or date range.

I don’t want to give permanent, as it needs to renew. Finite only give options to change to another plan after, I want them to renew on the same plan. and Date range is obvious, so where is the plan I need?

    Hey there coleburg,

Finite access will give your members ability to renew their subscription but this will not be automatic process as with recurring payments that are available in premium version of the plugin, they will have to renew their subscription manually once it expires.

This can also possibly explain the IPN issue from your other thread since if you were using serial subscription plan and paypal express this is possibly the reason why you’re having those issues, were you using serial subscription and express gateway in the old membership plugin?

In the previous version, I have monthly members, that created automatic monthly payments, so has this been removed as I wasn’t on the premium version before.

Does this also mean that the monthly subscriptions will now cease? This is a pretty big change of your plug in if this is the case.

I could not potentially lose a lot of money as they all expire now.

I have had a look and it doesn’t look like any payments have been made since, they are all overdue, what can be done to correct this?

I’m shocked that a monthly plan working perfectly in v1 has stopped in v2 and is now premium option, this is pretty much blackmailing us to upgrade.

looks like I am going to have to leave to another plug in and this is pretty much blackmail from the developer of this plug in.

I’m having the same issue. Is there no recurring payments option available anymore?

    Hey mcnei1,

Yes that’s correct, we’ve moved recurring payments option to premium version of the plugin.

    Best regards,
    Bojan

That’s unfortunate. It would have been useful if you had notified us before you made such a big change to the service. Instead I’m just finding out now. I’ll need to rethink whether I want to keep using your service.

How easy is it to transition from the free version of Membership 2 to the Premium version? Are there step by step guides?

I agree on the fact that there should be some sort of notification regarding changes to the available payment types for membership levels.

How easy is it to transition from the free version of Membership 2 to the Premium version? Are there step by step guides?

There is no guide for the transition since there are no special steps that needs to be taken. What you need to do is once you have active subscription on WPMU DEV site is install WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin, remove free version of Membership 2 and install Membership 2 Pro through Dashboard plugin.

    Best regards,
    Bojan

What about all the members I have currently using the Membership 2 free version? Once I uninstall Membership 2 Free, what will happen with them? Will their subscriptions continue?

    (@wpmudev-support4)

    Hey again mcnei1,

Such information is stored in the database, so removing the plugin should not affect that in any way. Similar thing happens to posts for example, switching the theme will not remove the posts since they are located in the database.

Once you install premium version or any other version of membership 2 all the data related to the plugin will still be there.

Either way making a full site backup before any changes such as this one is what I’d strongly suggest just in case something goes wrong.

    Hope this helps ??

    Cheers,
    Bojan
