• I recently have tried to add another subsite to the one that already exist on my multisite.

I guessed it was simple and had done everything right but it is not opening when I click to go to the dashboard. The link to the subsite I am trying to create is https://dir.agrihomegh.com.

Please help me fix this and get the subsite working.

    Thank you.

  • Looks like you might need to add the subdomain to your DNS records and, on most systems, you’ll need to tell your control panel about the subdomain, too.

You can make the DNS a little easier by creating a wildcard subdomain in your DNS records… This may have already been done for you.

Some systems will also allow any subdomain that shows up in and will pass that on to WordPress for display.

I do see you are using CPanel so you’ll probably need to add that subdomain to the list CPanel keeps.

Your webhost should be able to help you with all this.

Thanks a lot @jnashhawkins for the quick response.

Kindly give me a bit of direction on how to add the subdomain to DNS records or how to create the wildcard in the DNS records. I guess the wildcard will do.

I have added the subdomain to the list on the cpanel.

I already have one subsite which was set up about a year ago and I don’t remember going through this.

My webhost responses are very slow and I will appreciate if you can help.

On cPanel I think you’ll chose DNS and get into the DNS editor and then add an A record composed of the subdirectory’s name and the IP address of your multisite’s host.

There’s a slight chance your DNS is not on your own server but I imagine it is.

I can’t tell from here but it seems your DNS may already have a wildcard which is usually a star character… ” * “.

Otherwise, you should be able to see your older subsite’s A record. You could create a new record as that older record is created and just change the first word or name to dir. Hit save.

If this doesn’t work you might need to ask your host for further help as this is outside the scope of WordPress support.

Do make sure you mapped the new site properly to the sub directory’s complete domain name.

The way that acts… I kind of expected adding the subdomain properly to the cPanel would have started that up.

It may take a while for the changes to propagate out to the internet.

Do call or contact your web host if you can’t get it squared away.
