• Hi, every time I purchase a subscription product, the plugin redirects me back to the cart page with “cancel_order=true&order&order_id=0&redirect&_wpnonce=” in the url. But for simple products, it redirects me to the Thank You Page. How can I fix this?

Do you have logging enabled in the Express Checkout settings? I would need to get a look at that log file to see what the actual response is coming back from PayPal.

I’m assuming you are using the Woo Subscriptions plugin, right? It sounds like maybe you do not have Billing Agreements enabled on your PayPal account, which is a requirement for using it with Woo Subscriptions because of the way Woo Subscriptions processes the payments (which uses token payments / reference transactions).

Lots of terminology that can be confusing, I know, but again, we just need to make sure you have Billing Agreements enabled on your PayPal account. Did you go through that procedure to get that enabled on your account?

I don’t think I have enabled Billing Agreements. How do I do that please?

You’re going to need to give PayPal a call to get it turned on. Let them know that you are using the PayPal for WooCommerce plugin provided by an official PayPal Partner, and they informed you that you need to enable Billing Enables in order to use Express Checkout with the Woo Subscriptions platform. They should be able to “flip the switch” for you pretty quickly, and then this problem will go away.

Let me know if you have any problems with that and I can get a direct contact on my end involved to fix it for you. I try to avoid doing that, though, if we don’t need to, so it’s best to give them a call and try that first.

I’ve had trouble contacting them in the past. Could you let your contact fix it for me?

Please contact me directly and provide your account email address. Also, please provide your estimated monthly payment volume.

    I have.

Hi, struggling with the same problem.
We are using WooCommerce – Subscription and want to use Express checkout instead of Paypal Standard (this last works but we are losing customers due to bad user experience).
If I understand you correct we need Reference Transactions to be enabled at Paypal.
Spoke to Paypal and it’s a huge process where we need a minimum turnover pr month and a lot of company documentation. At this point they don’t want do it since we are a new costumer to them (we have used Payex until now).

Is there really no other way to get Express Checkout work with subscription other than enabling Reference Transactions at Paypal?

@exerto, Unfortunately, the way Woo Subscriptions works (with token payments) does require reference transactions. Please contact me directly and provide your PayPal account email. I may be able to get it approved for you without the hassle.

Oh, sorry, yes. I’ve sent your information to my PayPal rep. Just waiting to hear back still. She seems a little backed up, but I’ll follow up again and get some info.
