    Hi Thomas,

Since my Adsense switched to the material design version, I’ve seen a huge drop in page views and earnings. Analytics says page views is 20x what is being reported on Adsense. I can’t seem to figure out what is going on.

I have tried posting in adsense forum. Cleared cache and CDN. Double checked the code.

    Disabled Autoptimize and WP Rocket.

Ads are not showing up at all. And Adsense is reporting something very wrong – account is in good standing.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi prateek07,

    thanks for reaching out.

    > material design version

What do you mean by this?

    > And Adsense is reporting something very wrong

    What does AdSense say?

Anyway, I checked the code of your site and don’t see any call to AdSense. Did you change your website layout and it included your ad setup, so that it needs to be set up again? This could happen when you placed ads or ad placeholders in your theme files or sidebar widgets.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

    https://9to5google.com/2019/01/21/google-adsense-material-theme-web/

Adsense is not saying anything but it is showing almost no pageviews. Like for example, I had 12,000 pageviews on one day (as per GA) but Adsense only showed 1000.

I don’t recall changing anything significant recently.

It looks like I can get an ad to show up if I manually place it with a widget. So it may not be a Adsense problem

I haven’t made any changes to advanced ads settings in a very long time. I’ve double checked the code is correct. No issues with ad health

    Hi prateek07,

    thanks for your feedback.

I agree that it shouldn’t be an account issue then.

How does your Advanced Ads setup look like? Are you using a placement and if so, which type?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

Manual placement in each post, it is an inarticle ad. and that’s all that’s really been set.

Keep in mind I am using Autoptimize and WP Rocket. None of those have been updated recently so I don’t think that is the problem.

    Thank you.

Did you use a shortcode to place the ad there?
If so, is it still there when you added the post?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    (@prateek07)

Yes I do use a shortcode. Yes, the shortcode is in all my posts

    Thank you.

If the shortcode is still there and there is no issue shown in Ad Health then I can think of some conditions preventing ads to show up.

Are your ads using display or visitor conditions?
Does something show up when you enable the “debug mode” on the ad edit page?

    Please also check https://wpadvancedads.com/ads-not-showing-up.

    Thanks,

    No display or visitor conditions.

Nothing shows up when I enabled debug mode. I did disable wp rocket and autoptimize as well.

I’ve gone through that list before contacting you. None of those worked.

    Thank you.

    The ad settings look correct.

I checked https://www.intelligenteconomist.com/peak-oil/ and see the ad debug options. Can you confirm that? That might have be a caching thing.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

    it says:

    Ad debug output

The ad is displayed on the page

    (@webzunft)

Thank you. Yes, this means that the shortcode and placement are working.

When I last checked, I didn’t see any ad code, but I looked at a different page.

Please disable the ad debug mode again and I will have another look at this exact page.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

Yes, the homepage does not have any ad.

I have disabled the ad debug mode, please try. Also cleared cache

    thank you for your help

    Thank you.

I don’t see even the ad code now.

Two more ideas to narrow it down:

    1. Test the “dummy” ad type. Just create a new ad, select “dummy” as an ad type and insert it into that post. Does that show up?

    2. Test a placement. Go to Advanced Ads > Placements, create a “Manual” placement (the first choice), assign the ad and add the shortcode of that placement to the post.

    Thanks

    (@prateek07)

    1. The dummy ad does work. I’ve left it on the page for you to see.

    2. All my ads are manual placement already. I have 0 automatic placement
