    Hello WordPress community,

I’m having an issue with a site of a client, suddenly the slider stopped working and the layout got messy without apparent reason. The images look distorted and extremely zoomed, and the slider keeps getting stuck on one of the images.

The site is using an underscore-based theme developed by another dev a long time ago and the slider is a built-in functionality. WordPress is using the latest version (6.2.2) and the server PHP version is 8.0.28.

This is what I have tried so far with no effect: roll back WordPress to a previous version, deactivate all plugins one by one, update all the plugins to their latest version, and rebuild the slider.

Not sure if this is related but every time I activate Smush plugin, the Chrome console display warnings like this:

The resource https://plexxie.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/oleg-laptev-QRKJwE6yfJo-unsplash_02_mb.jpg was preloaded using link preload but not used within a few seconds from the window’s load event. Please make sure it has an appropriate as value and it is preloaded intentionally.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

  • The problem is not the images but the slider in which they are embedded. When the page loads, a JavaScript error is thrown in the console – that might have something to do with it. The currently used script can therefore no longer render the images, is probably not compatible with the new WordPress.

I would recommend you to find someone who can update this custom programming. You can find someone like that for example here: https://jobs.wordpress.net/
