[NSFW] Suddenly, Comments Are Not Working

    Suddenly, comments have stopped working on my blog at https://www.domaschuk.com/the-blog (some NSFW pictures)

    Commenting is turned on and I can see the comment form at the end of each post. However, my Captcha plug-in BWP-captcha doesn’t appear on the form and, when I submit the comment, the comment doesn’t appear on the page nor does it show up in the admin section under comments.

    Two notes about BWP-Captcha:

    1. I am using it on another page on my site (for event registration) and it works fine.
    2. I’ve tried deactivating it and comments still don’t appear

    Finally, I’ve tried leaving comments when I am signed in as the admin and after hitting submit, it just returns to the page. I’ve also tried logging out and leaving a comment but, when I hit submit, I get a Page Not Found error, even though the URL is valid.

    I suspect it may have something to do with my permalinks but I can’t find anything in the documentation.

    I did a search and other people have experienced it but the most recent post that I could find was two years ago.

    I have three other WP sites on the same server (different domains) and they each work fine. I’ve tried deactivating the other plug-ins to see if they are causing it and, so far, no luck.

    UPDATE:

    When, as logged in, I submit a comment, I do get the message “thanks for the comment.” The comment still does not show, however.

    Have you tried switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    Thanks esmi. I’ll try that. It shouldn’t matter because one of the other WP sites I have (www.PolarizingImages.com) is using the exact same theme and not having any issues.

    Yeah, no difference. Thanks for the suggestion, though

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Something else to ponder…

    On the site where comments are working (Polarizing Images) the home page is set to display blog posts.

    On the site where comments are not working, the home page is a static page and the blog posts appear on a page called The-Blog. This page has page comments set to ON and comments are enabled in the Discussion settings.

    FOUND IT!! (and there was much rejoicing)

    It was the Better WP Captcha plug-in that was causing it. Oddly enough, deactivating them one at a time (including that one) never fixed it. Turning them all on except that one keeps it fixed.
