Suddenly getting “Deprecated” error

  • Recently, a “Deprecated: Creation of dynamic property EDD_SL_Plugin_Updater::$beta is deprecated in?[root file]/public_html/wp-content/plugins/author-pro/licensing/EDD_SL_Plugin_Updater.php?on line?44” error appeared at the top of my dashboard. It never showed up before, just within the last two weeks (after I updated every plugin, theme, and WP). And now, editing any part of the theme throws a “Looks like something went wrong!” error.

    I’m not entirely sure how to fix it.

  • The path sounds as if the hint is created in a file that is created in a commercial plugin. I assume this belongs to the commercial version of the Author theme. I would therefore recommend that you contact their support team: https://support.competethemes.com

    Btw. it could have to do with a PHP update on your end. If you are now using a newer PHP version than before, you may get such messages. In this case, the plugin must be adapted to be compatible with the new PHP version.
