So I suddenly lost access to Dashboard (after logging in I get a 500 Internal Error), but I can add posts and access settings etc.

The options in WP Dashboard that result in a 500 Error are the Dashboard and Installed Plugins, which means I can’t deactivate all plugins in order to check if one of them is the issue.

The second issue, that turned out today, is that I can no longer Add New media files. It gives me an Error: The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/.

I have tried changing the directory, as well as the option of files being saved by date – no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • You cam use FTP or the File Manager in your hosting account to disable your plugins. You do not need access to your WordPress Dashboard to make this change.

Using either the File Manager or FTP, go to wp-contents/plugins and change the filename to plugins-off.

Login to WordPress and check if you can see Dashboard and Installed Plugins without errors.

If you have no errors, go to plugins-off and change the name back to plugins and turn on the plugins one at a time until you the offending plugin(s).
