• Jetpack asked me to leave a review, but I already did. So I edited that one.

Jetpack have historically sneaked in changes to the free model and suddenly started to charge for things previously included for free, but the recent update seems to have broken everything. I’ve fixed the 2 main issues, with help from forumites (subscriptions and social sharing). But I’m having to reset everything, re-select everything, and re-check everything, and I’m getting errors on my site that weren’t there before that I just can’t be arsed to look into further at the moment. WordPress health tells me to uninstall inactive themes, for example, and Jetpack insists that I reinstall them again. I already have a job, thanks. I can’t afford to fix Jetpack issues for free.

Seriously considering a move to an alternative.

    Hi @dianewordsworth

We’ve been sending emails for many months in anticipation of the change. We understand it’s not easy to accept change.

Jetpack’s social auto-sharing feature, formerly known as Publicize, has been free since it was first released 10 years ago. During that time, it rarely received any significant updates, and the features that have been added were only available with a paid plan.
    ?
With over 1 million posts shared per day, we’re excited to start giving our sharing feature the time it deserves. We now have a dedicated team working full-time to take auto-sharing to the next level, along with several other planned features, collectively known as Jetpack Social.
    ?
If you’re a casual user, you can continue to make up to 30 social shares per month for free, but if you share more than 30 times per month, you can upgrade to the new Basic plan. I’m showing right now that you have used the 30 shares for this month that the free plan includes. To continue with sharing this month, you would need to upgrade to the paid plan.
    ?
The first month comes with a huge discount of 90% off so it’s $1, followed by a $10/month subscription (billed yearly).
    ?
For an introductory period, the Jetpack Social Basic plan includes unlimited shares. After that, it will include up to 1000 shares per month.
