Suddenly, the update links disappeared

Hi, thank you for the answer. I began watching this issue closely and IT LOOKS LIKE the update link is not present when the newly added version of a plugin is just a few minutes old.

As I learnt yesterday, when a developer submit an update of any plugin to WordPress, there are about 20-30 minutes of delay until it is finally published and made available for download.
This week I was checking closely the updates of BackWPup, which upgraded recently with a lot of bugs, and the users was angry and desperated for an urgent update.

May this issue be due to the above explanation? I will check that.

Actually a reload of the plugin panel page should be resolving the temporary issue.

Yep, I thought the same, but actually… nope. Only when the file is available for download from WordPress, the ‘upload now’ link will then work.
So, I’ll have to be less anxious ??

Well, as far as I understand your issue then, this is a WordPress issue rather than a plugin issue? In other words, does it also happen for you when my plugin is deactivated? Just out of interest. ??

Precisely right now have been an update on BackWPup, and the ‘update now’ link was present, even when the download in WordPress wasn’t available yet.
So, I don’t know when/why exactly have it disappeared…

Hi there Oliver. Sorry to bugging you again with this. But just wanted to confirm if this is a bug in the plugin or some weird condition in WordPress. Below you’ll find a link to a capture showing the mentioned strange behaviour:

Why could this happen? Surely there is some IF condition that is deciding whether to show the download link or not. When is this option deciding to be hidden?

Well, I’m not controlling the output of the update/download links, I’m just adding the changelog to the list, so I think this is “usual” behaviour of WordPress.

Without Changelogger being installed and adding the changelog, you probably woudn’t even notice that the update/download links are missing until they show up.

So maybe the readme.txt on the plugin’s SVN repository is available sooner than the zipped update package to be downloaded, that’s why it prints the changelog but not the update/download links.
