Suffusion: how to set up separate text "containers" on a static front page?
-
I’m a WP newbie using Suffusion. Website is https://www.macopolitan.org
Background: Website is the online presence of a nonprofit community media project mostly consisting of a monthly print magazine. I admit to being in over my head w/ Suffusion, but I needed something customizable in order to make the site and magazine look similar.
Question: I am using a “static” front page. Quotes b/c it’s not intended to be entirely static—it gets updated about once a month. Front page title is “News & Announcements,” and right now its various text items are all in one text “container” (is this the correct terminology?) with each item separated from the previous one by a horizontal line. I want to put each announcement or text item on this front page in its own separate box. Y’know, so that you see a little sliver of the background photo in between items. This would make it obvious that the announcements cover a period of months, representing a sort of timeline of the project’s progress. I can’t figure out where or how to do this, largely b/c I’m confused by some of the terminology used in “Suffusion options,” even after consulting various WP glossaries.
I don’t want to use a “blog page” as the front page, BTW, b/c I update most of the site’s pages on a monthly basis, and I don’t want them to get “mixed together.” In other words, I don’t want a viewer to see something I just added to the Links page on a page that’s supposed to be devoted to news & announcements.
Finally, I do NOT know how to code. If the solution requires altering the code, please be very explicit about exactly where the code should be placed.
Thanks in advance for any assistance, and please forgive any unnecessary info. I don’t quite speak the language (WP) and am straining to ask my question clearly.
