Suggestion

  • Hi Volkmar,

    first of all: Pretty useful plugin, a brilliant replacement for the no longer maintained “Manual Image Crop” plugin.

    But as usual, there is always a special case of using, therefore I want to make a suggestion. The function add_button_to_attachment_edit_view could be probably a bit enhancend without effort, by using two filters. One for displaying the button itself (think of not showing it to several userroles or in some CPTs), another for the button title and label. The last one makes sense for different CPTs, since WP supports set_featured_image, remove_featured_image language strings etc. when registering a post type. Example: I use the string “Als Coverfoto verwenden”, but the button still says “Artikelbild zuschneiden”. Would be great, if I could change this text to “Coverfoto zuschneiden”. Just as an example.

    Others than that: Really nice work. I’ll keep an eye on this one ??

    thanks for responding.

    About your suggestions:
    Both filters should be no problem. The hidding on certain posttypes is a feature i want to implement for the js-media-dialog a while ago. The problem is: i currently cant find any relevant variable to determine the correct post-type. Neither by JS nor by PHP.

    If you want to have a look at the upcoming release i suggest you download the jsapp-branch from the github-project (https://github.com/vollyimnetz/crop-thumbnails/tree/jsapp). It will have better support for touch devices and is more responsive.
