• Maybe this is a dumb or impractcal idea, but would it be possible to parse the stylesheet and create all the necessary font controls automatically?

Child Theme Configurator does something like that though of course its focus is different. Font control items would be a subset of what that plugin creates, if they could be identified.

I’m comfortable with CSS but I can see how this could be a real time-saver if you change themes frequently. Such a list of font controls could end up being quite long, depending on the theme, but people who want to change fonts will usually want to change them throughout the theme, so will have to create all the font controls manually in any case.

Anyway, if this is a stupid idea just ignore it, and thanks for a great plugin ;).

    Hi jwhittaker99,
Unfortunately this wouldn’t work as every theme would be using different classes and selectors. I’ve noticed that alot of people that are using the plugin without having css knowledge. We might look into selling addons for this plugin that already have the font controls configured for popular themes. Is this something that would benefit someone like you? Thanks for the suggestion, appreciate it. Cheers

Yeah I thought it was a long shot unless there was a way of identifying selectors.

Personally I’m OK with CSS, it’s just tedious going through all the CSS files every time you change themes, at least those that don’t provide any customisation options.

As for add-ons, it’d depend on the theme. Some themes have this built in, to some extent. Those that don’t, where this would be most useful, may not be the most popular themes. I think it would benefit those with no CSS knowledge more than me but, as I say, it would depend on the theme because it would certainly be a time-saver.

However, I think for a paid add-on I’d want control not only over the fonts, but everything surrounding them, size, colour, decoration. Otherwise you’d still need to go through the CSS files to change those other things. That’s just a personal view of course ??
