Suggestion for small eCommerce application

  • Description of my application:
    1. User would select a service, amount should be in the cart and the final order should be forwarded to payment gateway(Hosted). On payment, the user should be redirected back to order confirmation page.

    1. Need suggestion for selection of theme, plugins for my application.
    2. Do I need WP eCommerce/WooCommerce like eCommerce plugins for doing this.
    3. Can this be achieved with normal themes and installing plugins to achieve payment gateways and cart functionality. If so please suggest few plugins.

    Install WooCommerce on your site. I’ve not really used any other ecommerce plugins, this one seems to be the best so I would recommend it. You can sell physical and digital goods so you will be able to sell services.

    As for the theme, WooCommerce should work with pretty much any theme out of the box, you may need to configure the theme to stop the admin message appearing that warns you the theme may not be compatible. Better yet, create your own theme and build a unique online shop.
