• I’m thinking of developing a client area plugin. There seem to be a few hacked together solutions but no elegant plugin that feels this need.

I’m imagining something that allows you to create a large number of client accounts at once with dedicated protected folders, login usernames and passwords, and client pages. Or create clients on demand, which then automatically send them a message with a username and password. The client can securely login, be forwarded to their page, and download/upload files and read information or submit forms.

Let me know if this is something you would use. In what cases? What types of clients? And what are the absolute, most important features that, if done well, would make an awesome plugin?

  • You’ve got a great idea! If you’re developing a client area plugin one thing I’ve found missing in WordPress is a billing and ticket system. There’s are several that do these separately but nothing that integrates a client area allowing someone to order services and submit tickets. I’m attempting to open a web based tech support site and something of this nature would be quite useful.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, bob. I’ll think about working something like this in.

Go for it – there is not a good solution out there – badly needed
