Suggestions for a great chat plugin

I’m looking for a plugin that will allow us to install multiple different chat boxes on different pages of our website. Essentially, we are running a virtual craft show, and want to allow shoppers to engage with our vendors on their individual virtual booth pages via a chat box–but of course we want a distinct chat box for each of our 50-100 booth pages.

We’ve tried this in the past with WiseChat, which was exactly what we’re looking for, but unfortunately that plugin is so resource-heavy that it completely crashed our site upon “doors opening” for the virtual show, and the plugin author has provided no support nor suggestions as to how we might remedy this.

Anyone know of any plugins that are similar to WiseChat but might not be so resource-heavy? Or any other way we could allow users to chat with our vendors on each of their personalized booth pages?
