Suggestions for a photo gallery…

  • I’m using WordPress as a CMS to create a site for a client with a small business. My client wants a portfolio page with a list of thumbnails that will each link to a separate photo gallery page that will include muultiple photographs with lengthy descriptions.

    I’ve looked at some of the gallery plugins (Zenpress, Gallery 2, AWSOM) and they don’t seem to accomplish what my client has in mind, unless I’m missing something.

    Is there a way to have the thumbnails be posts, which when clicked will link to a page (single post) or WP Page with multiple photos and lengthy descriptions? I’m not really sure if and how this would work.

    Also, is there a way to accomplish this that would be easy for my client, who doesn’t know code, to update herself?

    Let me know if I haven’t explained clearly.

  • I am trying to accomplish the same thing. What I am trying to use is the WP 2.5 gallery feature on the page where the thumbnails that link to other pages will be, and NextGen gallery on the destination pages where there will be information in addition to a gallery of photos.

    Unfortunately there is a problem with the new gallery feature where it will not update the link attached to an image in the media information popup for the image. It just reverts back to the default.

    My client will also need a simple method for adding and deleting thumbnails from the primary thumbnail page, so I am also reluctant to use code to accomplish what I want. If the bug gets fixed it would be a great solution.
