Suggestions for creating a front page that is different from the blog’s look?

Can’t comment on the “intro feel” aspects but can point you to How can I have a static front page and posts display on a page called Blog?

Here’s what I’d like to do:

For my band’s website, we have a single front page image that will take up the entire screen, with a couple of buttons on it. When people click on the buttons, they are taken to one of our web pages, which is organized like a regular web page / blog. The address is shokazoba.net If you go there you will see what the “regular” web page will look like (more or less, regular WP style – header, 2 column, etc etc). The look we’re going for on our front page is very different from the “regular” pages’ appearance……the front page will be more of a “gateway” page. For another band’s example of the effect we’re looking for, go to:
https://www.antibalas.com/ to see their front page and click on “Security” to be taken to their “regular” pages.

Does this make sense?
