I’m unsure if there is a specific part of the forum where we are supposed to post suggestions for features/usability for this plugin. I’m going to post them here, and please let me know if I need to delete and repost elsewhere!

    1. It would be very helpful if, when looking at a report within the new dashboard, you could click on a specific order and it would either a) open in a new window, or b) offer an option to “go back” to the report you were just looking at. As of now, if you pull a report and click on an order you want to investigate, there’s no easy way to get back to the report once you’re finished. You have to go back and repeat all your steps and pull the report again.

    2. It would be great (for tax purposes) if the zip code of each order was an option that showed and could be sorted by. Since individual states and cities are now implementing complicated sales tax reporting throughout the US, it would be great if we could pull an orders report for the entire year and sort by zip code, so that we could easily view and compile which jurisdictions we need to report to (and pay sales tax to). As of right now, we have to go through each order one by one, which is very time consuming.

    Thanks!

That is a very interesting idea to have the link back to the report on the order page. Until something like that is in place, you could also CMD+click on a Mac or on Windows, right mouse click and open in new tab to help out.

Does the new tax report help you at all with this process? It would be possible to have an extension add in an order’s shipping postal code to the orders report.

    Hi @rebeccaolson

First of all, thank you for the valuable ideas. Opening orders in a new window definitely sounds like a good idea.

I hope the suggestions we passed along to you in the previous reply guided you in the right direction.

We haven’t heard from you in a while, so we’re marking this thread as Resolved for now.

Please feel free to reply to us in this thread, should the problem persist. We are happy to look into this and guide you further.

    All the best!

Hello! So sorry, I didn’t get an email that someone had responded, so I’m just now seeing this.

    1) Thank you for the tip, Timmy! I’ll do that until if/when they add another way to view the reports.

    2) I think the new tax report would help if our Woocommerce taxes were set up to have the correct tax rate for every municipality in the US that we have to send taxes to. I’m sure large businesses have the time/resources to do this, but we don’t. Instead, we follow state law and have one tax set up in Woocommerce: we charge sales tax at our local rate to anyone in our state, and don’t charge sales tax to customers out of state. However, we do have to figure out the different rates for the different municipalities (zip codes) in our home state and pay the different municipalities the correct taxes at the end of the year. There are also new laws in the works for other states, and we will soon have to start paying municipalities all over the US. It’s a real pain for small businesses like ours – we essentially just pay a lot of customers’ sales tax for them.

Anyway – having a way to pull the orders report for the year with the order subtotal and the zip code of the order (even if that is just column in the export, so we could sort by zip code) would be *extremely* helpful.

    Thanks!
