• I’ve been using Sumo for about a year and a half. The GOOD – They have the best interface on the back end out of all the tools I tried. They have lots of cool apps and it’s kinda fun to build pop ups with their system. The CEO called me when I was having some major issues. THE BAD – I had a lot of trouble with their tools actually working on earlier browsers and weird buggy stuff on the back end like pop ups randomly renaming themselves and settings not saving. I had to waste a lot of time to get it to actually work. THE MEDIOCRE – Their support team always responds quickly, but most of them time it’s not actually helpful. So they get a C there. I work with a lot of internet tool providers and the Sumo support team puts in the least amount of effort of all of the services I use to troubleshoot and offer workarounds. Just an FYI…The Buy button is getting archived. They no longer support it and won’t update it anymore. I recommend Selz.com if you need a buy button.

    Hey @webrachel !

Sorry to hear you were unhappy with the experience :disappointed:

To address your browser concerns, the Sumo popup and forms are designed to work on multiple browsers and platforms. Your users are not required to be on the very latest version, but it is possible they may experience display issues if they are using a very outdated OS or browser version.

From the behavior you were describing on your site, it actually sounds like there may have been some code conflict or non-standard CSS on your site as opposed to a browser or hardware incompatibility. Have you reached out to our support team for help? We are always glad to address any issues you are having.

For the Buy button, Sumo is more of a product for people who are trying to capture emails rather than add shop functionality on their site. If you are trying to add an ecommerce checkout/cart on your sire, we definitely can’t help you out there and would recommend you look at more appropriate options for those functions. However, if you already have an ecommerce site and want to supercharge your lead capture and recurring sales… we can definitely help ??

Please do send an email to our support team if you have issues like what you experienced. From what you are describing, they sound like relatively simple issues to take care of and we’ll be glad to help troubleshoot them with you!

Hey there. Yes, I have been working back and forth with the support team for a week and no one could resolve any of the issues I reported. Here’s what they said, “If you’re not able to replicate the issue on the current version of Safari, I would suggest reaching out to your users and advising them to upgrade to the latest version of Safari. We can only guarantee the compatibility of our tools with the latest versions of each browser.”

Can you imagine that? A new person comes to my website to check out my business. And they see a giant message somewhere that says “please make sure you update your browser and operating system to view my site.” What would you think if you saw something like that? You’d probably close the page and never come back again.

I’ve only tested my website on pretty recent versions of Safari, not ancient ones, and still had problems. I got my Ipad 6 months ago and it doesn’t work there. I asked my friend to check it out on his Iphone (he updated to the latest apple stuff 3 months ago) and it didn’t work for him either.

Also, you guys should probably take this page down if your tool isn’t made for selling stuff: https://sumo.com/app/buy-button. Notice the giant letters at the top of the page that says “SELL ANYTHING ON YOUR WEBSITE WITH A BUY BUTTON.”
