Super Cache

  • I need your ugrent help. For past many days, my host is reporting that my blog is causing heavy server load. So I’ve got my site moved to 300 MHz / 300 MB RAM VPS server, but to no avail, They’ve switched to 601 MHz / 600 MB RAM, the load is continue.

    And the worst comes, when we try to install Super Cache plugin. The moment it’s on the site dies with “500 internal Server error”.

    1. To reduce the load, I’ve removed all plugins, and only running essentials.
    2. I’ve also packed all javascript in wp-include folder.
    3. Removed Wp-Postviews (GamerZ) plugin, that was generating huge SQL server load.
    4. I’ve around 23000 posts with lots of categories and tags.

    Please help me to solve these problems and let the blog run efficiently.

    Also, for a blog with 23,000 posts and lots of cats and tags that’s an underpowered server. Even my long running main blog has only 4,000 or so posts.

    Hi Donncha,

    Thanks for the reply, the blog is hosted on DreamHost.

    1. Seconds before, DreamHost moved my blog to VPS, I was running Super Cache plugin (since 1st day of its release), and it was working flawlessely.

    The blog was also running smoothly, except 1-2 hrs downtime (somtimes daily or on alternate basis).

    The problems started, only after VPS shift.

    What do you advice?

    Check your Apache config. I think the README has some details about mod_rewrite, but if you have fancy permalinks that should be fine. I’m not sure TBH.

    The 500 error can be caused by many things.
