From a non-coder DIY point of view:

Elementor made my life just so much easier. The first builder I came across was enfold and I enjoyed it. My site was reasonably fast but very often I found myself in the position og having to click just too many times.
My second builder was Visual Composer. I enjoyed Fevr theme in backend building mode (Fevr is great if you go VC)

Then came elementor. Look modern, nice effects, easy to create a little bit more complex structures. I cant foresee any reason to abandon it. Elementor is really fast and straightforwarward to work with, not to mention SPEED
I use Lelemntor Pro, Generate Press Premium, and a slider heavy landing page loadc under ONE sec! (Thanks for Swifgt Performance plugin, thank you Peter too! )
One sec for a diy page. That says it all.

So I absolutely recommend and loove elementor
