• No answers to these questions from support or from the forum so I guess no one knows,

Yoast lets you set up meta description for posts and other categories under the Titles & Metas Tag- Yoast SEO ok fine, understood

Okay now it does not run the stop light seo helper in the new posts section, yet it does in the category section only on my Schema premium wordpress theme, Dont know if that matters or not, does it? any how.

Number one question, how do you insert meta description for individual posts, as the generic one under “posts” in the Titles & Metas – Yoast SEO main tab will not be the same as your specific target word individual word press POSTS. Individual posts target specific keywords so you do not want the default info used for all your posts as they do not target specific topics in your posts. see?

So I can get green bullets for every last thing up to one where it says no meta data description indicated for my work but I have to produce my work in the category section and not the post section as it does not work there. I have to create in the category section where the seo works, then copy it over to the post section. Why?

why does yoast only work in the category area of the posts tab and not in the posts themselves?

IMPORTANT QUESTION…Do I write my post in the category section, then copy it, and then paste it to the posts section and then delete it from the category section after? Leaving only a meta description behind in the categories tab when done? Or wipe everything out of the categories section after? Did the meta description transfer to the Post?

Or Will that description left in the categories tag then act as the meta description?

Trying to figure out where and how the meta description is handled for individual posts, and if I have to do something manually to override the generic meta description in the general tab Titles & Metas Tag- Yoast SEO—-and yes there is a general section for meta description for posts in the general seo tab, but how does that help my targeted keyword and descriptions for my many unique posts? Posts are not a static page requiring a static meta description. Posts need their own. Is this plug in doing its job in this regard?

Now if the answer is Buy the Premium version, will it do exactly what I want it to described above? Or will I still get a generic meta description for all posts area in the general tab? and not be any further ahead

    Thanks for your time.
    Sincerely,

In conclusion,,,,Plugin seems real buggy, there are a lot of unanswered questions about this plugin on wordpress forums, and a lot of one star reviews. That cannot be coincidence…. now for any help on my questions….

In addition just to be clear, I think the plug in is good in general, has great ideas and functions, and probably works dynamite great for certain users with certain themes, but may be my theme bugging it out?

But lack of answers to my questions allowing me to be certain I am using it right, or if its not compatible with my theme before getting me to buy is aggravating. I have no problem spending the money.

Actually I do want to spend the money! But not to be in the same situation I am in now! Time is money and I don’t have time to fool around.

My main problem is with the representative I had being outright vague, and not answering my questions…. will the premium plug work on the premium wordpress theme I bought and answer my questions regarding the posting area/category area composing issue and meta data issue? Or is it no different from the regular plugin except have added features?

If rep said yes it works bang on I can feel you, I know what your talking about and we have definite answers in this regard, your theme is fine, then please take my money. If not don’t take my time……I don’t want to TRY and see, and then have to get a refund and fool around.

My thoughts? It probably works great for some themes, others it does not. Does it work with mine the way I want? Wish I knew…. Would the premium plug then work if my theme is compatible for my issues? Don’t know the rep would not tell me.

If you are using Yoast as an add on to a Theme (either free or purchased) you run the risk that the theme will be trying to do similar things on its own to what Yoast is trying to do and they will not be compatible. It is up to You to do your own troubleshooting when you try to add any plug-in on top of a theme that someone else has written.

That said, the latest “update” of yoast has caused many sites to break, and we are unfortunately seeing that the “team yoast” has no desire to support their “free edition” any more.

It is known that the Yoast update is no longer compatible with the advanced custom field plug-in; and there may be more. It also does not fill the sitemap completely with all posts in some installations.

Actually, you’ve described issues that make me think you’ve got more problems than with just Yoast. Check the plug-ins that you use. Deactivate them one by one and see if things improve. If it does then you’ve got an incompatibility and we’d appreciate knowing about it on this forum.

done with yoast it does not work on my theme I bought. started from 0 plugins and not working with schema, no issues with yoast gone now. maybe my site will actually show on a search engine now.

also w3 plugin does not function properly with schema, slowed site from dismal 4.7 seconds to 10-15 so had to remove. siteground told me to try it, it did not work. slowed down even more to brutal slow speed.

trying to get optimum speed with all these plugins not working makes me think wordpress is overrated, and buggy. also ads on my page whenever I try a plug in, ads everywhere. spending tons of time with wordpress buggy themes and plug ins and not getting much work done other than in forums here, siteground, my theme shop,,,ugly huge learning curve with this stuff, spending all my time in help forums and never getting answers, just sales presentations,,,

wished it worked, so could spend time blogging lol…. someone please design a theme and include all plugins with it that work in a side panel tested and known to work, that are compatible and fast, SOLD, take my money so I can get to work.
