• Hi there,

I adore this plugin and we have already managed to integrate with bbPress / the “GD bbPress attachments”-plugin so I am wondering if by any chance there could be support for Gravity Forms (the most famous plugin for WordPress forms, https://www.gravityforms.com).

Currently our server holds 3GB (!) of media uploads just via Gravity Forms and it would make a huge difference if the images were (pre-)processed and optimized.

As far as I can see, Gravity Forms uses a very similar approach to WordPress in how the images are stored since they are pushed to /uploads/gravity_forms/1-xxxxxxxxxxx/ (numbers counted upwards (2,3,…) with random figures appended).

So there are two main things:

    1) Allow for bulk optimization outside of the media gallery, include the gravity_forms-folder
    2) Allow for auto-optimization at upload

Any chance of these features to be included? Any plans yet? Maybe you can also contact the guys over at GravityForms since EWWW would be a great fit / bonus for their product.

Thanks in advance & looking forward to hearing from you,
    Regards!

    Henning

I’ll definitely look into it and see what I can find out regarding the way they store/generate the images.

haven’t heard back. You may want to contact gravity forms and let them know about this request, you might have more pull as a customer.

Hmm, too bad… Thought they’d realize what was in store for them by supporting your plugin.

I just have contacted the GravityForms support and am hoping to hear back soon.

    Hi there,

we are extensively using the image upload functionality with Gravity Forms and the images added by our users are often totally oversized and contain a lot of overhead regarding metadata.

I am sure you are utilizing image compressing tools (lossless / lossy) for your website as well and are aware of the savings possible. There is a killer plugin out there which takes care of (automatically) compressing images uploaded within WordPress: EWWW Image Optimizer (https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/ewww-image-optimizer)

Unfortunately the plugin doesn’t work with GF’s upload mechanism out of the box which is why the developer of the plugin contacted you and asked for specifics on how GF processes the images internally so the plugin could also do its magic for GF.

You have not replied up until now which I find a little bit unfortuante / disturbing since I imagine such an extension to be utterly useful for numerous users of GF. Find the whole thread for reference here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/support-for-gravity-forms-image-uploads

Looking forward to hearng back from you – maybe you can publicly post your statement over at the WordPress forums. I am copying this message and posting it there as well so people are aware of the inquiry.

Thanks a lot in advance & regards,
    Henning

I have not heard anything from Gravity Forms, just FYI.

I don’t get them… Updated the ticket, will post back.

    (@nosilver4u)

    still nothing?

    Thread Starter leanderbraunschweig

    (@leanderbraunschweig)

Nope, still haven’t heard back from them (even opened another support-ticket) – think we have to bury this one then…

Wish Gravity Forms would respond, bulk-optimization and auto-optimization on upload would make this plugin even better than it is now.

    Yeah, sad indeed…

I am even holding a DEV-License and have not received any answer at all (despite one saying that it will be looked into) in more than 2 months (!). Wondering why I give money to somebody who doesn’t even care to answer with a simple “No” when it comes to this integration (which would be unfortunate and somewhat stupid but nonetheless OK, they don’t have to support any third party plugins).

    News after all:

There is no hook or filter implemented which will allow you to process the uploads with this plugin’s functions. The ticket from the plugin developer is still with the business development folks to see about adding a hook or filter. Sorry for the inconvenience.

That closes this ticket I guess. Maybe in the future we’ll see any changes…

Would be nice if they would at least email me directly on the status. I’ve not received even one email from their business development folks, and it only takes one line of code to implement a hook. Oh well, maybe someday…
