    Hi Jeff,

I have set up a site with two languages (english and german). Posts created with your plugin are always in english and don’t show up on the german pages. I use Polylang plugin for multilingual support.
Is it possible to add support for multiple languages to your fantastic plugin?
    Thanks!

    Hi Martin,

Honestly I don’t know too much about translations, only speak one language. For my part, I have enabled translations in the plugin and know that it has been translated into numerous languages. Beyond that however I really can’t say whether multiple language support is possible or not. If you decide to look into it further and find something that needs added/done by the plugin, let me know and I’ll implement asap, thank you.

    Hi Jeff,

thanks a lot for your quick response.

I am aware that your plugin supports different translations so that the text strings on both the frontend and the backend can be displayed in different languages.

Wordpress can be extended to serve content in multiple languages. This is done through plugins like Polylang or WPML.
Every bit of content (pages, posts, widgets, menu items, etc.) can be created in different languages. Unfortunately the posts created by your plugin are always in the default language. It is not possible to assign a different language to them when they are created. So in a multi-language setup the posts don’t show up in other than the default language. I am no developer and I do not know how this technically works. Maybe the plugin can somehow check what language the page has on which the shortcode is inserted and then assign this language to the posts it creates. Does this makes sense? Sorry for my bad english if you are confused…

    Regards,
    Martin

Thanks for the infos. It sounds like there is some metadata or filter that is needed for plugins like Polylang or WPML to work properly. I will try installing either/both plugins and take a closer look. Hopefully it is something I can get to in the next plugin update, either way it will be added to the to-do list to get it fixed up. In the meantime, please let me know if any further information is discovered or if any questions, etc. Thanks again for reporting, Martin.

    Hi Jeff,
in the changelog of the latest release of USP I see the line

Adds filter hook usp_pll_set_post_language for Polylang plugin

How exactly is this working? Is USP now able to create posts in different languages?

For the messages (Success Message, Error Message, Email alerts, …) one can define in the USP settings in WP backend it would be great to have a possibility to also create these in different languages.
With Polylang plugin I saw this possibility for general and plugin settings. The address for the general options in german is for example:

    https://domain-name.tld/wp-admin/options-general.php?lang=de

Can you implement this into the USP plugin? Would be great! Polylang has some docs for developers: https://polylang.pro/doc-category/developers/
Maybe this is helpful for you.

    Thanks!

    Glad to help:

    1) “How exactly is this working? Is USP now able to create posts in different languages?”

No it is for developers who are working with Polylang support in USP. There is no UI or other added Polylang functionality, only the filter hook was added to make dev’s lives easier.

    2) “Can you implement this into the USP plugin?”

It’s definitely a possibility, will take a closer look for a future update. Thank you for the feedback, Martin.
