Support for single images?

Yes, it can be. I developed my own version which also works with single images.

However – since the developer of PhotoSwipe itself (Dmitry Semenov) says, one should not create a public available WordPress plugin (see https://github.com/dimsemenov/PhotoSwipe), I can not publish it right now.

I already contacted Dmitry Semenov, but did not get a reply yet. But as soon as the situation is clarified, I’m happy to publish it.

Update: I am now in contact with Dmitry and already added my plugin to the WordPress repository for an initial review. However, this may take up to 10 days. As soon as it gets published, I’ll let you know.
