• I appreciate you state that Event List is only supported to WP up to 4.9.9 but I’m sure many of us have moved to 5.0 which seems to break Event List on my site (no events are displayed and other page elements are adversely affected).

Are you actively developing this to support WP5.0 or do I need to find a new Event List plug in (I hope not!)?

    Thanks

Agreed. I need to know what the status of correcting this is, so I can use another plugin for this functionality if necessary.
    Thank you!

Also – it seems the break has to do with vue.js Cloudflare repo – anyone else verifying this?

We have the same issue with the plugin not working on wordpress 5.0.3
Please, can you give us a word around or let us know when you will be releasing an upgrade if at all?
    Thanks

@kristihoffmaster @mglong this workaround from @hatespam has worked on our listings page. but I still haven’t fixed the home page listing.

Forget all I said, way too complicated.

You need to do the following:

    1. Create a new page.

    2. Put the events-list shortcode of your choosing on this new page.

    3. Put the link to this new page in the field “URL to the linked Event List page” in your front page widget.

    That should make it work.

If you want the path for the new page to be ‘events’, you can change the path for the Event List custom post type archive page in the Event List settings, so that the path ‘events’ is freed up for your page.

I also used the following from https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/shortcode-permalink-not-working/
to fix the issue on he home page. I hope this helps

    Hi morphpr,

Thanks for the help. I’m not able to get my Events to load with either of those fixes. I think it may have to do with a perfect storm of Gutenberg and Theme version changes last month…. still digging.

Thanks to the above folks for supplying informations and tipps!

We have like 400 events listed with Event List still at 0.7.12 and WP not yet updated to 5.x. Naturally, I’m really careful with the updates.

=> Have you ever tried to update WP to, say, 5.1.1 and keep Event List v0.7.12?
I just tried this on a test-Server. I had WP 4.9.8 and Event List v0.7.12 running – then I created 2 events. Next, I updated WP and Event List – the events were gone.

THEN, I uploaded Event List v0.7.12 via FTP and – hey – both events were there again.

Could this be working for you too?

    Cheers,
    Johannes

    Hello again,

just updated the live domain with several hundred events since 2016 to WP 5.1.1 while leaving Event List alone (still v0.7.12).

And [drumroll] all events are still there, both the upcoming events dispayed as well as older ones from, say, 2017.

    … just sayin’ … ??

For now, I’ve reverted to an older PHP version as this seemed to be the cause on my current host. Having enabled WP Debug temporarily, it seems this plugin is using a PHP extension which may or may not work too well with my host and PHP7.

@mglong: I just checked: in my case, it’s PHP 7.0.33 – no problems so far.

Just noticed that people have been having issues. FWIW, I did not encounter any issues with this after upgrading to WP5.

    WP 5.2.1
    PHP 7.0.18
    Event List 0.8.3

It is a bummer that development seems to have ended though.

The author has said on Github that he will pick up work on Event List once work on another plug-in of his has been completed.
