    In the AMP settings – under the Supported Templates, Media is currently not ticked. Not sure if this is a default setting or something I might have changed. What does “Media” mean in this case? Is this referring to images? I think images are already showing correctly in all of my AMP pages and posts. Could someone please clarify?

  • @wrip While the templates may not be used on your site the “Media” type is one of the default post types in WordPress, which is why you’ll see that listed in the “Supported Templates” tab. They can also be included in the WordPress Template Hierarchy.

    In your case I can’t be sure why the media type was unticked, by default it should be enabled. Did the same occur on any additional sites you may have?

    @jamesosborne Thanks. So what are the consequences of not having the Media type ticked? It doesn’t affect the media within the posts and pages right? I’m a little confused.

    No we don’t have another site that has AMP enabled.

    @wrip Good question. It doesn’t impact the media within posts or pages. If you have an attachments or uploads menu item at that point I believe the media template may be used.

    @westonruter may be able to confirm this.

    Media here refers to “attachments”. If you link to the attachment page for a given upload, then this is what is in view here. It doesn’t relate to media embedded inside of an existing post. It is not very common to link to attachment pages, so it’s fine to have Media unchecked if you don’t attachment pages.

    @westonruter Thanks for confirming.
