I want the category pages to display in the BadgeOS format – when I overwrote some existing BadgeStack pages (changing “quests” to “certifications” for example, the format was the same. But when I created some new pages, although they look identical to the BadgeStack pages, they use the “archive” template (that shows the badges as a massive image) rather than the BadgeOS template (that lists all the badges with a search box and filter at top). I do not understand WordPress well enough to understand the mechanism through which this choice is being made and how to change it.

    Thanks very much.

    Hi peternepstad,

This sounds familiar for issues that others have had. Wherein you’re ending up on the post type archive url instead of the page that is using the shortcode. If memory serves me correctly, it was a case of a Page having the same slug as the achievement post type itself. As a result, the url would be interpreted as the archieve instead of the page.

Hope that helps clear this up, but let me know if it doesn’t.

When a page has the same slug as the achievement post type itself, and the URL goes to the archive, how do I resolve this issue? I’ve tried simply deleting the page, but the archive still appears. Your explanation makes sense, but I don’t know how to correct the problem.

Thank you for your response, much appreciated!

OK, I have resolved the problem after thinking through your above comment. The problem originates when there is a Page and an Achievement Type with the same name. So if I change the name of one or the other, then, because I am using the “Post Name” Permalink type, I edit the Permalink of the page so that it also does not use the same name, then it works. Perhaps the issue actually originates from the type of Permalink you choose? I had to change from the default per the recommendation of the BuddyPress plug in.

    Thank you for your assistance.

Changing the permalink type is one way to solve it, changing the page slug is another so that the page slug isn’t matching the post type slug. and the query is correct. Say “badges” achievement type and “my-badges” page name, for an example.
