• Using SV 2.3.2.1 I, I installed the plugin and activated it. Plugin screen says it’s active.
But now I can not find the menu or buttons of SV to Add a gallery. How do I proceed? Looked for it on the dashboard, looked in New Page menu and new blog menu.
    Instructions say:
“Click the ‘Add SimpleViewer Gallery’ or the SimpleViewer ‘eye’ icon button.”.
But how does this look like, does anyone have any screenshots?

Would greatly appreciate it if we could get this working.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jack.

The ‘Add SimpleViewer Gallery’ button can be found on the default WordPress editor’s toolbar when creating a new page or post. In ‘Text’ input mode, the button reads ‘Add SimpleViewer Gallery’ and in ‘Visual’ mode, the ‘eye’ icon looks like my avatar.

Please note that WP-SimpleViewer works only with the default WordPress editor (TinyMCE) and if you use a third-party editor, you will not be able to see the ‘Add SimpleViewer Gallery’ button or create a gallery.

    Hi Steven,
Thanks for answering, but no luck. There is no text in textmode and no eye-con in wysiwyg mode. Plugin screen shows SimpleViewer is activated.
I’m using the default toolbar, so na fancy things installed, just an out of the box, plain WP site. Made some tiny custom mods in code, but no dashboard or main mods.
If I put in SimpleViewers shortcode manually, the shortcode shows as text only on the published page. So shortcode does not work either.

Any idea’s? Tried SV on two different sites, both of them were upgraded to WP 3.5.2 about 5 months ago. Would upgrade if I know for sure that’s the solution, otherwise I wouldn’t go through the hassle of upgrading right now.

    Thanks again,
    Jack

Upgrading WordPress would not make a difference.
WP-SimpleViewer requires a minimum of WordPress v2.8 and should work fine with all versions since.

If I put in SimpleViewers shortcode manually, the shortcode shows as text only on the published page.

This implies that the shortcode handler function (from the ‘wp-simpleviewer.php’ file) is not active and your original problem (of not seeing the ‘Add SimpleViewer Gallery’ buttons) implies that the add button and quicktag functions (also from the ‘wp-simpleviewer.php’ file) are not being used. It all points to the plugin not actually being activated (except that your plugin screen shows that it is).
If there was a problem with the ‘wp-simpleviewer.php’ file on your web server, then I would not expect the plugin to be showing as activated.

Try deactivating all other plugins to see if this helps and then reactivate them one-by-one to see if you can find a conflicting plugin.

Tried SV on two different sites

Are they both on the same server?
If they are on different servers, then it is less likely to be a server-related issue and perhaps more likely that the problem is related to modifications you have made or other plugins that you have installed.

If possible, try a clean WordPress installation (as a test in a completely separate directory) with no modifications and no other plugins installed to see if this makes a difference.
