SVN and automatic upgrade

    Is the built-in WordPress automatic install/upgrade process (accessible via the WP dashboard) compatible with an SVN deployment of WordPress?

    I run a whole load of Multisite installs and whilst SVN works great for me, what with the recent quick succession of minor updates it’d be nice if someone with normal WP Admin rights could also upgrade their own sites without fear of then messing up any future SVN upgrades.

    Yes it is. I normally use svn (’cause svn is cool) but on a whim have used the automatic upgrade via the dashboard. Worked fine. Later on when another update was released, I did an svn up. Files were updated and added without a hitch.

    I’m ivory soap sure (99%) that that won’t work. With a Network WordPress installation, the Super Admin (Network Admin? Super Duper Admin?) has to upgrade the network and then upgrade the batch upgrade on each site.

    Cool. Thanks for confirming.

    Anyway, when I said “normal Admin rights”, I did mean Network Admin (sorry, loose terminology on my behalf).

    Useful to know that both methods are compatible – shame there’s not more made of this in the documentation.

    The docs are editable by anyone, so feel free to login to the codex with the same credentials as you have here in the forums and add whatever you like.
