    Hey guys,

Firstly, I want to say thanks so much for a great plugin.

I have a favour / request to ask of you. We’ve built an API for building the MD5/SHA1 checksums of www.ads-software.com plugins (WPHashes.com)

But for this to operate reliably, it needs to use SVN tags to demarcate the exact files and their contents for each version. Fairly recently it seems you veered away from that practice.

My request is to ask that you pick up that practice once again and tag your releases on SVN. It helps us be able to build a reference that is reliable and, ideally, something we can use for scanning files for modifications and undesirable edits.

For example, the API response for the latest version:
    https://wphashes.com/api/apto-wphashes/v1/hashes/plugin/redirection/4.7.1/md5
    but for 4.6.2:
    https://wphashes.com/api/apto-wphashes/v1/hashes/plugin/redirection/4.6.2/md5

Let me know if you have any other questions on this… happy to explain further.

Since your plugin is so widely adopted, your consideration is hugely appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Paul.

The change was made because there is a www.ads-software.com page somewhere (I forgot where I saw it now) that asks you not to tag each minor version. After reading that I decided to only tag the major versions, with the tag being applied on the last release of an old version.

Strange, I haven’t seen that, and I can’t imagine why that would be advantageous in any way.

I just took a read through the handbook and reviewed their advice on tags etc., and it’s generally recommended that if you denote a stable version, you also tag on svn.

The closest thing I could find about what you were saying about the last release of an old version is this:
    https://developer.www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordpress-org/how-to-use-subversion/#delete-old-versions

Anyways, it’d be a huge help if you could use tags, but I’ll leave it there.

    Thanks for considering it.
