swfobject only works in chrome

I am new to wordpress so any help would be appreciated. I need to upload swfs to my website and they should be able to work on all browsers. After many attempts at using all the different wordpress plugins with mixed results as far as success across Chrome, IE, and Firefox, I decided to manually load my swfs using google’s swfobject. I have added the js in the header.php file and I have put the swf object code into my post. It works great in Chrome but in Firefox and IE it is showing the alternate image instead of the flash. I have the latest version of Flash player on all my browsers. I created a simple html test page outside of wordpress and the code works just fine on all browsers! I also tried using two different wordpress themes wondering if something in the theme was messing it up – the swf still did not run in FF and IE. Is there something that wordpress is messing with that I can hack around?
