    Hello everybody,

I try this plugin which I find very useful and well made.
But (sorry in advance if subject was already threated, I didn’t found) I wonder if there is a possibility to include an option to let the visitor choose his language, on frontend, I precise. I saw this topic which was talking about backend, but is there a way to put something like a dropdown menu or buttons with flag countries to let visitor to switch frontend language ?

Even if the plugin doesn’t permit it, in native, i’m open to others ways if there is not to much difficult codes. If I understand good, Loco Translate displays language in fonction of the ip address of the visitor, or if no .mo file correspond, in the default wordpress language selected in the wordpress settings, is it ?

Thanks a lot for your help and very Big Up to the plugin author.

    Best regards

    Hi.
This feature has been requested many times. It’s unlikely to be added to this plugin because it’s not its core function. I’m sure there are many plugins out there that do exactly what you need, but I cannot recommend any.

    Hello Timwhitlock,

Thanx for the light speed response.
Yes I imagine this is a recurrent question -_-‘ Yep, easily understandable. This is not the basic role of the plugin. No problem.

By the way, could you just tell how the plugin works with wordpress. Supposing the .mo files exist, will the website be translated in the country visitor language even if default language of wordpress is another (checking his ip address?)

Or do you think I will be able to find tweak with some codes. Maybe some codes associated to buttons to switch default wordpress language ? Do you think it could work ?

Yes I know other translator plugins permits to switch language on frontend but I prefer yours, and work with yours, I like the way it works.

    Hello Timwhitlock,

Sorry to repost.. After searching different plugins, could you just tell me if Polylang would be a good and a compatible plugin with Loco for what I want to do (I mean switch default wordpress language on frontend) ? Could they work together without problem ?

    Thank you for your help

I can’t advise on the suitability of other plugins. Loco Translate functions without any regard to the current locale, but I can’t guarantee against conflicts.
