Switch parent theme, retain customizations

  • Hello,

    I hope this is the right forum to post this question. If not, perhaps someone could advise me which forum to use.

    I have a website that uses a child theme based on Twenty Ten. I would like to switch to a responsive theme.

    Do I need to recreate my child theme from scratch? Or is it possible to move my .php and .css files to the new theme (making changes to theme name internally as necessary)?

    Or is it best to keep the parent and child theme intact and use a plugin? If so, would appreciate recommendations on good plugins.
