• Hi All, I’m mostly a newbie to WordPress.

We’re running the latest version of WordPress (Divi theme) on a shared host. A few months ago our tech support person switched us from http to https. Today I noticed that all our images are http, even the ones I’ve recently uploaded. See https://goo.gl/46oV7b to see details. What’s the best way to get all my current and future images to be https?

https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/better-search-replace/ Is this plugin the best way? Or some other way? Unfortunately, my tech support person will not be available for a few months.

    Thanks,

Yes, use Better Search Replace. Make sure you search in all tables and have unchecked the “dry run” box. HOWEVER, be sure to backup your database first as a simple typo in entering the URLS can do a Very Bad Thing.

Hi Steve, Thanks for your reply. Please forgive my newbie questions. I want to be really clear on what I’m searching and replacing. Is it as simple as searching for “http” and replacing with “https”?

How do I get my future pics to upload to WordPress as https and not http?

And yes, I will definitely back up my website before using Search and Replace.

I’ll wait for your reply before proceeding. Thanks,

    Hello!
Its always nice to help a newbie. Back to your questions:

Q: Is it as simple as searching for “http” and replacing with “https”?
A: Almost. If your site url is https://mysite.com then you should run the following query:
    find: https://mysite.com
    replace: https://mysite.com

Q: How do I get my future pics to upload to WordPress as https and not http?
A: Once your site is properly migrated to the https version then all new imaged will be automatically uploaded under https.

Note: This is boring for some people but make sure you backup your site database first.

Hello Makis, Thanks for the info. Very helpful.

“”Q: How do I get my future pics to upload to WordPress as https and not http?
A: Once your site is properly migrated to the https version then all new imaged will be automatically uploaded under https.””

Our tech support person did migrate our site to https a few months ago. But as you can see from the screenshot in my original post, images are still appearing as http after they’re uploaded to the WordPress media library. Any ideas how to fix this?

    Thanks! Cheers,

I just visited your site and saw that your frontpage images like this one are loaded under https.
Did you run the Search and Replace plugin? If so I suggest to do this and try uploading an image once more.

Ahhh… Yes. The pics are https only because I’m currently using the “SSL Insecure Content Fixer” plugin. If I was not using that plugin it would be http and not https.

I’ll run the Search and Replace plugin and report back. Thanks!
