Switching from another theme

  • I discovered (after the fact) that my website’s theme (Rebalance by Automattic) hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. I’ve also been told that the theme looks a bit dated.

    So I am wondering how difficult it would be to switch to Material Design theme? (I am not a developer.)

    I don’t want my existing content to be overwritten. How do I prevent that?

    Is it compatible with the Jetpack portfolio custom post type which comes included with Jetpack? (Although my current theme has it built-in.) Would I be able to set my static home page as my Portfolio page as I have currently? OR Is there a better way to create projects/case studies? (Wish you had a theme demo so we can see how you envisioned “Projects”.)

    Are you going to update Material Design theme to keep up to changes with Material Design design system?

    How long do you intend to support this theme? Surely, at some point Material Design design system will be retired by Google, as it was introduced in 2014?
