I set up WordPress through the GoDaddy widget on my site, but it set it up as a blog, whereas I wanted it as a site design template for the main site! How do I go about changing it from a blog design to a site design?

  • Hi dhkendall,

As for me, I would probably look for themes that having a site design looks theme on the home page. Wheres you can really modified the theme to suit to your needs. One theme I can suggest you is the Freebiz theme where it is kind of clean and nice.

So basically, I just have to turn the blog template into a site template with my HTML & CSS skills?

(BTW, the client is wanting the Evolve template, which does look pretty customizable)

    Hi dhkensall,

From my view, a home page do nto have those sidebar widget kind of thing and it does not have those post-like interface. You can perhaps modify the index.php from your template to get rid of the sidebar and of course, you can add anything you like init such as NivoSlider which is pretty common nowadays on most of the template. Some social network links of yours, RSS subscribe, latest news perhaps?

You don’t really have to be a Master of CSS for the modification, you just need to know which is the code to be modify.

But make sure you make a backup copy on the files that you attempt to modify.

    Good luck

If you could give me a link to the site where you’ve implemented the theme,I can probably give you info on what the cutomizations could be.

I’ve already started work on some of it – can’t figure out how to customize the “Keep In Touch / Search” bar, can’t seem to find a link to that, but am slowly getting the hang of it.
