    This is a follow-up to: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/event-view-leads-to-404-error-on-wpml-translated-page/

I was having the same problem as described in the above thread using the Events Calendar plugin and WPML for an English/German site. The default calendar view is the month view. On the German calendar page only, when I used the “View as” switcher on the front end to switch to List View, everything was fine. But then if I switched back to Month View, I would get a 404 error. The URL of the 404 page was https://[mydomain]/events/monat/.

I followed the advice given in the above thread, but that didn’t help. It turns out that ‘month’ had automatically been translated to ‘monat’ which I discovered in String Translation. When I changed the translation to ‘month’, the problem was fixed. This seems to be a bug since the automatic translation creates a slug that leads to a non-existent page.

  • Hey @cmdavidson,

This one will be tough to troubleshoot without a URL to inspect. Have you tried tunning through our testing for conflicts page?

I’ve actually solved the problem already (by changing the translation, as mentioned above). I just wanted to alert you of the cause of the problem. Although the real root of the problem seems to be that there is no page at the URL with the translated month in it.

If it is of interest, this is the URL that gives me the 404: https://glco.org/events/monat/

Again, it’s solved for me because I changed the ‘monat’ slug to ‘month’ in string translation. Now everything works when switching between list and month views.

Though we have tested WPML quite a bite, we can’t guarantee that it will always work 100% alongside The Events Calendar.

Slugs should be translated fine. After updating translations, you should:
    Clear WPML cache
Use all cleanup buttons on WPML setting page
    Re-saving your permalinks

    i have the same problem.

This Ed here doesn’t understand anything… They should bring a qualified person here.

    Hey there @markus8472,

    Thanks for reaching out!

We have a guide for configuring WPML with The Events Calendar that can be found here ? https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/setting-up-the-events-calendar-with-wpml/

Sometimes 404’s with WPML can be solved by disabling and re-enabling custom slug translation and flushing WordPress permalinks.

    Hope that helps!

i am not even using wpml!

Oh, I see. It’s just that this thread is titled Switching from list to month gives 404 error on WPML-translated calendar page and you replied stating that you have the same issue.
