• I really need some help. I am trying to change from my wordpress.com blog(https://mmalowdown.com) to a www.ads-software.com blog hosted at bluehost. I already signed up and paid bluehost. My problem is I am trying to import my blog to bluehost, I went to export and it will only let me export my blog in .xml format. I called bluehost tech support to help me upload my blog and they told me I can’t upload a blog in .xml format, only .sql format. They told me to call wordpress support and ask for an .sql dump. I have no idea what to do. I am clueless. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • https://www.technosailor.com/wordpress-to-wordpress-import for the xml importer.

there’s a walkthru over at the https://faq.wordpress.com blog as well.

Should actually be included within wp 2.1 at Dashboard -> manage -> import.

    hope this helps,

Fantastico will do it – but it won’t move your images!

“You would need to do a Backup of the images, files and database from WordPress and upload that to your site here. The transfer does not happen automatically. It needs manual upload.”

WordPress.com doesn’t allow access to back up images, so you’re generally screwed unless you want to upload all the original images again.
