Switching language

There are various plugins for that. I would recommend WPML but only because that’s the only one I have experience with. There’s obviously more than just that one.

WordPress has the built-in capability to be used in any language.

The less the user has to open a file outside of the WordPress backend the better. It would be good to add the important things like switching languages directly into the backend.

There are plans on adding language switching among other things to core.

When I switch to Norwegian the backend uses Norwegian but I see no change on the frontend with the standard WordPress phrases. These phrases: comment, reply, search etc are still in English. These really should also be changed to the Norwegian language.

So I will then have to translate the theme perhaps by using https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/codestyling-localization/ and translate the default standard phrases to Norwegian.

I am wondering why are the standard WordPress default phrases on the frontend not translated along with the backend when switching language?

Any thoughts on this?
